WIPocalypse #4 & Theme-a-licious Amazon April

Tällä kerralla yhdistän nämä kaksi raporttia, sillä ne raportoivat saman lopputuloksen :)

Sain vanhimman keskeneräisen työni valmiiksi!!! Teresa Wentzlerin The Guardian odottaa nyt kehyksiin pääsyä, ja voin jatkaa seuraavaksi hänen The Fortunate Traveler -malliaan. Vahdin valmistuminen vei hieman yli yhdeksän vuotta, on/off-pistelyllä.

I finished my oldest wip!!! Teresa Wentzler's The Guardian is now waiting to be framed, at some point, and now I can continue The Fortunate Traveler, which has been barely started. The Guardian took about nine years of on/off stitching.

RPH / CJC 2013, 1-5

Tämä vuonna ristipistohassutukseni koostuu aiemmin aloitetuista töistä, osa on jo useamman vuoden takaa. Valitsin keskeneräisten joukosta 15 sellaista, jotka haluaisin valmiiksi tänä vuonna (ja jotka ovat jo edenneet pelkkää aloitusta edemmäs, jotain poikkeusta lukuunottamatta :-) Tässä ensimmäiset viisi hassutusta.

For this year's Crazy January Challenge I chose to continue wips rather than have new starts. I chose 15 projects that I would like to finish this year. Here are the first five crazies.

#1 Berni. Viime vuoden hassutusaloitus, jota pistelin muutamaan otteeseen vuoden varrella. Tämä oli viime vuoden viimeinen kädessä ollut työ, joten oli luonnollista jatkaa sen kanssa tämän vuoden puolella.

#1 Bernese Mountain Dog. A start from last year's CJC, which I worked on few times during the year. It was the last project I stitched last year so it was easy to start the challenge with.

#2 The Guardian. Tämä Teresa Wentzlerin malli on vanhin keskeneräinen työ, aloitin sen v. 2004 helmikuussa. Saisikohan sen valmiiksi ennen 9v synttäreitä? Unohtuneiden pistojen metsästys vie aikaa, mutta sen jälkeen ei puutu kuin lohikäärmeen jälkipistot.

#2 The Guardian. This design by Teresa Wentzler is my oldest wip, I started it in February 2004. I wonder if I could finish it before its 9th birthday? The hunt of the forgotten stitches will take some time but after that there's only the back stitches on the dragon.

#3 Gorjuss. Tämäkin oli viime vuoden hassutusaloitus. Aivan ihana! Se pitää saada pikaisesti valmiiksi ja seinälle :-)

#3 Gorjuss. This was last year's CJC start as well. So lovely! I have to finish this soon so I get it on the wall :-)

#4 Spooky Row (Bent Creek). Tämä on ollut kesken jo muutaman vuoden, olen sitä pistellyt aina silloin tällöin. Seuraavaan Halloweeniin mennessä se on valmis, ihan varmasti :-)

#5 Smurffit. Aloitin tämän kolmisen vuotta sitten, kun sattui olemaan tuo mallikirja esillä (olin pistellyt sieltä lahjan kummipojalle). Tämä saattaa päätyä tyynyksi valmistuttuaan. Löytyisiköhän tähän jostain smurffiaiheista taustakangasta?

#5 The smurfs. I started this about three years ago as I had the book at hand (I had stitched a birthday present for my small godson). This might end up as a pillow once finished. Does anybody know if there's fabric with smurfs that I could use as the backing fabric?

Uusi vanha / New old

Esitelläänpä vihdoin viimein tämä jo vuonna 2004 valmistunut pistely, eli Teresa Wentzlerin Nooan Arkki. Tämä oli ensimmäinen reilusti iso valmistunut pistely, ja ensimmäinen, jossa tein yhden yli pistoja. Tuli sitten pikkaisen harjoiteltua niitä... Onneksi en tajunnut asiaa ennen kuin aloitin työn ;-) Valmistuttuaan työ hautautui valmistuneiden "pinoon", kunnes nyt alkuvuodesta kaivoin sen sieltä esiin, annoin sille kylvyn ja vein sen kehystäjälle. Löysimmekin oikein hyvän yhdistelmän kehyksiä ja paspista, sanoisin. Tykkään lopputuloksesta kovasti, tämä pääsi makkarin seinälle.

I think it's about time to show you one finish from 2004, namely Teresa Wentzler's Noah's Ark. It was my first big finish, and the very first where I did one-over-one stitching. And boy did I get plenty of practice with that... Luckily I didn't realize it before starting the design ;-) After I finished this, it got buried in the "pile" of finished designs until I dug it out earlier this year and gave it a bath and then introduced it to a framer. I think we found a really nice combination of frame and mat for it. I really like it, and it's now hanging on my bedroom wall.

Synttäriswappi, osa 3 / Birthday swap, vol 3

Toisen synttäripaketin sain Heidiltä (ei blogia). Kiitos kovasti Heidi, tykkään kovasti tästäkin paketista, eikä haitannut yhtään, että se myöhästyi, päinvastoin, se piristi surullista päivää kovasti!

I received the second birthday swap package from Heidi (no blog). Thank you so much Heidi, I like the package a lot, and do not worry about it arriving late, it really brightened up my sad day!

Paketista paljastui kaikenlaista mukavaa, pistelijälle tarpeellista: kangasta, lankaa, helmiä ja niiden kiinnitystarvikkeita... Suklaa oli muuten tosi maukasta, nam! Ilonhihkaisuja aiheutti kirjanmerkin löytyminen paketista. Siihen on yhdistetty kivasti yhden suosikkisuunnittelijani, Teresa Wentzlerin, malleja. Olen pitkään miettinyt ja suunnitellut kirjanmerkkien pistelemistä, sillä koko ajan tuntuu olevan useampi kirja kesken... Tämä meni siis heti käyttöön!

There were lots of useful things for a stitcher: fabric, floss, beads etc... By the way, the chocolate was so delicious, yam! There was a scream of joy when I saw the bookmark. It has been so well done, using two different designs of one of my favourite designers, Teresa Wentzler. I've been thinking and planning on stitching bookmarks for myself, as I seem to have several books on the go all the time... So this one found a book immediately!

Miksi tuo päivä oli surullinen? Siksi, että olin silloin hautajaisissa.

Tässä sitten wippilistani loputkin projektit. Toista kierrosta olen menossa, ja vähän muutakin tehnyt tässä välissä, niistä kuvia sitten myöhemmin.

On the Moors with Emily Brontë (by Sampler Girl). Kahden tunnin pistelyn jälkeen/progress after two hours of stitching.

Paperiteline Joutsenet / paper storage Swans, 2 tuntia/hours.

Legends of the Dragons. 2 tuntia/hours.

Tämä on kolmen suunnittelijan yhteistyö: Teresa Wentzler, Jennifer Aikman-Smith (Dragon Dreams) ja Karen Weaver (Black Swan). Aloitin oikeasta reunasta, eli Teresa Wentzlerin suunnittelemasta lohikäärmeestä (tai reunustahan minä vielä pistelen).

This is a collaboration design of three designers: Teresa Wentzler, Jennifer Aikman-Smith (of Dragon Dreams) and Karen Weaver (of Black Swan). I started of the rightmost dragon (or rather, the border).

Viimeinen keskeneräinen työ onkin uusi alku, koriste (A Tudor Rose Valentine), jonka kanssa oli jos jonkinlaista ongelmaa... Aloitin sen ensin vahingossa yhden yli 40 ct kankaalle (!), ajattelin sitten sitkeästi tehdä sen sellaisena, kunnes huomasin, että siihen oli tullut virhe Purkaminen noin tiheästä kankaasta, varsinkin yhden yli, on melkoisen hankalaa, joten aloitin sen sitten alusta kahden langan yli. Siihen tuli vieläkin virheitä, mutta en taida niitä purkaa. Tai katsotaan kunhan otan sen esille seuraavan kerran... Kolmisen tuntia käytin tähän vaiheeseen päästäkseni.

The last of the wips is a new start, an ornament (A Tudor Rose Valentine). I had all kinds of trouble with this one. I started stitching it over one (on 40ct fabric!), by accident... but I thought I'd continue with it, until I noticed I'd made a mistake. Not quite easy to frog (rip) over one on 40 ct, so I started again, this time over two. I kept on doing mistakes, but I think I'm going to leave them, or maybe I'll start the next round by frogging... This is after about three hours of stitching.

Hupsista, mitenkäs tuosta edellisestä päivityksestä onkin jo noin pitkä aika. Ilmeisesti aika kuluu vauhdilla kun on hauskaa... Tässä kuussa olen nimittäin pistellyt läpi tuossa wip-listallani olevia töitä, kolmanneksi viimeisen kimpussa olen parhaillaan (pieniä töitä ei oteta lukuun), ja onkin ollut toki mukava päästä käsiksi kaikkiin näihin töihin. Whoops, but it's been quite a while since the last update. Time sure flies when you're having fun... I've been stitching the projects in my wip list this months, I'm at the third last of the list (the small ones not counted), and I've enjoyed so much stitching them all after a shorter or longer while. January Starts

Better late than never, right? :-)

I had several new starts in January, participating thus in the Guilt Free January. It actually happened by chance. First new start was Chatelaine’s White Nights in St. Peterburg on New Year’s Day (stitched on Sugar Maple Fabrics' Angel Kisses):

After finishing the first part, I started Damier, the freebie that Maryse will release over the course of the year. The fabric is Silkweaver’s Spanish Moss:

And when the first part was finished, I started Chatelaine’s Sweete Bag. I stitch it on black Belfast, and after finishing part 1, I decided to take a break, as the black fabric is very demanding on my eyes.

I then started a clock with a Provencal theme. By that time I realized that I had already made several new starts and decided that January really should be Guilt Free January. So I decided to finish the numbers and what comes inside the numbers (stitched on 36ct linen):

After that I started Chatelaine’s Christmas Mystery V. I found English Rose Jazlyn (28ct) in my stash and it was perfect for this:

Second to last new start was The Fortunate Traveler (on 32ct Belfast).

No more progress on the Traveler, as I needed to start Deepest Love, on the last day of January. This is the first progress pic after the first day and first hour of stitching :) The fabric is, if memory serves correctly, Silkweaver's Ocean Fantasy:

I really enjoyed starting all these. Some of them have been waiting a long time to make it on my WIP list. I'll share more progress pics on Christmas Mystery V, Damier and Deepest Love later.
