WIPocalypse, report #7

I haven't managed to make any posts even though I have plenty to show. I've been on vacation here and there and in between I've been energetically organizing my stash, so I haven't spent much time on the laptop. But let's start after the break with another WIPocalypse report. Last month I "finished" Celtic Mandala (I call these designs finished once they have all the stitches and beads; I still have to give it a rinse/wash and attach bicones and charms before getting it framed). Another WIP that bit the dust was She sells seashells, which also has to wait to be finalized (into a small pillow). I've actually planned to make August my month of finishing, there are some others as well waiting to be finalized.

WIPocalypse, report #6

Celtic Mandala etenee hyvää vauhtia. Tavoitteena on saada se valmiiksi tämän kuun aikana, ja ihan hyvältä näyttää... Vaikka on tuossa reunuksessa ihan hirmuinen määrä pistoja ristittäväksi :-)

Celtic Mandala is progressing nicely; I'll try to finish it this month. It's looking good, though there are more than plenty of stitches to cross in those border ornaments :-)

WIPocalypse, report #4

Another full moon, another WIPocalypse report. I won't show you all I've stitched since the last report, as the Christmas stitching will get a separate post at some point, and the hush-hush stitching cannot be shown yet. But I did put some more stitches on Chatelaine's Celtic Mandala and I also stitched a car for an uncle's birthday. The design is from Cross Stitch Card Shop magazine (all the specs are in different place as I am at the moment, so I will add them later). I framed the card, as I (modestly) thought that my uncle will love it so that he will want to see it all the time... He did thank my thought :-)

Lisää edistystä / More progress

Hupsista, mitenkäs tuosta edellisestä päivityksestä onkin jo noin pitkä aika. Ilmeisesti aika kuluu vauhdilla kun on hauskaa... Tässä kuussa olen nimittäin pistellyt läpi tuossa wip-listallani olevia töitä, kolmanneksi viimeisen kimpussa olen parhaillaan (pieniä töitä ei oteta lukuun), ja onkin ollut toki mukava päästä käsiksi kaikkiin näihin töihin. Tässä tilannekuvat tähän mennessä pistellyistä. Vasemmalla tilanne ennen ja oikealla jälkeen. Lisätietoja joka kuvan yläpuolella. Kuvat muuten saa klikkaamalla suuremmiksi.

Whoops, but it's been quite a while since the last update. Time sure flies when you're having fun... I've been stitching the projects in my wip list this months, I'm at the third last of the list (the small ones not counted), and I've enjoyed so much stitching them all after a shorter or longer while. Here are the updates of those I've stitched this far. The picture on the left is "before" and the one on the right "after". More details above each photo. You can click to get bigger pictures.

WIPs...

To prove that I still do cross stitching and not spend all my time with the puppy :-) here's couple of wips.

I finally finished part 8 of Chatelaine's former Mystery XI (Celtic Garden). I've spent many months stitching this small part...

And I've also progressed with Chatelaine's Egyptian Garden, the center is done:

Update - Mystery XI

I finished part 7 of Celtic Garden Mandala (former Mystery XI) a few days ago. As the lightest colour would have blended too well with the fabric, I mixed some Avocado with it to make it show better.

And here's to whole "mystery" so far:

And last but not least :-) Here's one more finish from 2008. I knit this scarf for my cousin's wedding in autumn:

Model: Pitsihuivi, from the Finnish online magazine Ulla
Design: Pia Tuononen
Yarn: SandnesGarn Kitten Mohair, about 130g
Size: ca. 40 x 180 cm
Knit in September 2008

Happy New Year!

There's bit over 3 hours left of the old year, so I'd better hurry and show the rest of the finishes of 2008.

I finished the Damier at the end of November. Yay! It turned out so beautiful. The design was published by Les Grilles de Maryse throughout 2008. It is stitched on Silkweaver's 32ct Spanish Moss Belfast linen with DMC floss. I'm planning to finish it as a cushion, hopefully sooner than later :-)

Then I finished Chatelaine's Christmas Mystery V. I took it to framer's right away and got it back just for Christmas. I love how it turned out! The lovely fabric is 28ct English Rose Jazlyn. But it doesn't photograph too well, I'm afraid.

And here's a close-up photo to show the frame better:

After Christmas I finished part 6 of Chatelaine's Mystery XI and moved on to part 7. Hope to share a progress picture of that part soon.

And then some older finishes... I stitched this ornament for a birthday card. It's from Tantes Zolder and stitched using Needle Necessities floss.

During my summer holidays I stitched this summer bag. The bag itself is from Violarium and the model, by Margaret Sherry, from Cross Stitcher magazine, issue 201. It was a lovely project, the materials were easy to carry anywhere I went... :-)

This card was for a cousin's wedding in autumn. The letters are from The World of Cross Stitching magazine, issue 141.

With this, I'm wrapping up 2008 and wish everyone a Happy 2009!

It's done, it's done!

The never ending part, that is... Chatelaine's Mystery XI, part 3:

Olympic Results

As I expected, I wasn't able to reach my goals on the Chatelaine Stitching Olympics. Actually, I only finished three... I will explain why in another post :-)

What I did finish were parts 7 and 8 of the Christmas Mystery V. I'm now ready for the 9th part, which was released today.

I also started - finally! - Chatelaine's Egyptian Garden. Yay!

I continued part 3 of Mystery XI, but as it is quite a big part, I didn't manage to finish it. There is still a few hours of stitching left to do.

More exchanges and WIPs

In the scissor fob exchange, I received this really cute fob from Marja. She also sent me a lovely needle book. Thank you, Marja, these will be treasured (and put to use)!

On the WIP front, I have two new progress pictures to share. I finished part 2 of Mystery XI on Friday and part 6 of Damier yesterday:

Exchange

My scissor fob exchange has made it's way to Anne, so I can now share the photos:

The design is from Tantes Zolder blog, stitched on cream 32ct Belfast with Needle Necessities floss. Inside there's an old Belgian coin (5 francs from 1993) to give more weight to the fob. The scissors (Kelmscott Seaton Scissors) in the photos are purely for prop and not included in the exchange ;-) Anne likes autumnal colours, so deciding on the floss colour was quite easy. I'm happy to hear that she really likes the fob. So do I!

I've made progress on some of my cross stitch WIPs. First photo is of the 5th part of Damier, the next one the 5th part of Christmas Mystery V and last one the 1st part of Mystery XI:

WIPs, and a start and a finish...

Here's the current progress on the WIPs I've been working on recently. There's also a finish, and another start, too...

Deepest Love, at the end of March, after about 47 hours:

Here's Damier, part 4. This is such a lovely design and I really enjoy stitching it:

Today I finished part 4 of Chatelaine's fifth Christmas Mystery:

And then I started, finally, Chatelaine's big mystery for this year, the Celtic Mystery, and here's the very first WIP pic :-)

After a long while, I also did some knitting. This lovely Möbius-scarf was easy and quick to knit. The yarn is Kitten Mohair (by SandnesGarn). The design has been published in the Finnish online knitting magazine Ulla:

Now I need to start packing, as I'll be heading to the land of the Pharaohs next week (yay!). See you later!
