Kummitytölleni pistelin neljännen koristeen Blue Ribbon Designsin sarjasta (ilmestyi The Gift of Stitching -lehdessä joulukuussa 2007). Kokosin vielä päätteeksi kollaasin kaikista koristeista.

For my goddaughter I stitched the fourth ornament in the Blue Ribbon Designs series (publishe in the December 2007 issue of The Gift of Stitching magazine). Here's also a collage of them all.

Serkulleni pistelin tänä vuonna koristeen sijaan pienen seinätaulun (Kirsille kiitos ideasta ja kirjan lainaamisesta!). Hän sai lahjaksi taulun lisäksi viinipullon ja neljä virkattua lasinalustaa (malli Kodin Pellervo -lehdestä, lokakuu 2010). Taulun malli on muistaakseni Claire Cromptonin kirjasta Naughty but nice (oliko se näin,Kirsi?).

For my cousin I stitched this year a small wall hanging instead of an ornament (Thank you Kirsi for the idea and borrowing the book!). Apart from the hanging, she received a bottle of wine and four crocheted coasters (design from a Finnish magazine Kodin Pellervo, October 2010 issue). The design for the hanging came from Claire Crompton's book Naughty but nice.

Äiti osti Kädentaidot messuilta Violariumin osastolta sievät sakset. Niihinhän piti ilman muuta saada saksikoriste, joten pienen sellaisen sitten joululahjaksi väsäsin. Unohdin ottaa kuvan jouluna koristeesta saksien kera, mutta tässä pelkkä koriste. Tämä onkin pienin, mitä olen koskaan tehnyt... Ja mallithan ovat Aunt's Atticista.

My mother bought lovely scissors from Violarium's stand at the local Crafts Fair in November. They absolutely needed a scissor fob, so I made one as a Christmas present. I forgot to take a photo of the scissors with the fob at Christmas, but here are photos of the fob itself. It is the smallest I've ever made... And the designs are from Aunt's Attic.

Näihin kuviin onkin mukava päättää tämä vuosi. En ole ehtinyt koota yhteen tekemiäni töitä tältä vuodelta, mutta tuolta Finishes 2010 -linkin takaa niiden kaikkien pitäisi löytyä. Jotain listaa löytyy myös blogin sivupalkista. Tänä vuonna tarkoitukseni oli saada valmiiksi monta keskeneräistä työtä, mutta vain yksi niistä taitaa olla valmistuneiden listalla :-). Muut valmistuneet ovat olleet pienempiä tänä vuonna aloitettuja töitä. 

Tästä onkin nyt hyvä siirtyä Hassuttelemaan (RistiPistoHassutus 2011), mallit on valittu, tarvikkeet ovat valmiina, ei muuta kuin aloittamaan (heti puolenyön jälkeen kenties?).

With these photos I'm wrapping up 2010. I haven't had time to put together a collage of this year's finishes, but they all should be found via this link Finishes 2010. There are also couple of lists on the side bar of the blog. This year I meant to finish many projects from my wip list, but I think I only managed to finish one. All the other finishes are smaller and started this year.

So now I welcome year 2011, and with it the Craziness (Crazy January Challenge 2011). I've picked all 15 designs, everything is ready, maybe I could start right after midnight?

Jouluvaihto / Christmas exchange

Lennun ristipistovaihdoissa oli jouluvaihdon vuoro. Minulle kotiutui Marjutilta (Marelolta) näin ihana rasia. Tuo enkeli on kerrassaan söpö, ja just minun tyyliseni! Rasia on nyt pianon päällä pikku kuusen vieressä, ja ajattelin säilöä siihen kuusen koristeet sitten joskus joulun jälkeen, rasia on täydellinen siihen. Kuusi on nimittäin koristeltu enkeliaiheisilla pikkukoristeilla.

Mukana tuli pistelyyn liityvänä lahjana muutama karkki sekä pieni enkelipiparimuotti. Kuvaan ennätti tosin enää yksi karkki... Kiitos kovasti, Marjut, tykkäsin paketista kovasti!

In Lennu's cross stitch exchanges it was time for a Christmas exchange. I received this lovely box from Marjut. The angel is sooo cute, really my style! I put the box on the piano next to my tiny Christmas tree, and I thought that it would be perfect to store all the small angel decorations of the tree after Christmas.

With the stitching came some angel candy and an angel shaped gingerbread mold. For some reason only one candy made it to the picture... Thank you so much, Marjut!

Minun tekeleeni matkasi vaihtoemolle, Lennulle. Kokosin hänelle joulumusiikkiaiheisen paketin. Pistelin Little House Needleworkin Monthly Ornament -sarjasta Fa La La -mallin. Viimeistelin sen flatfoldiksi, ensimmäisen kerran kokeilin sellaista viimeistelyä, ja sehän olikin kivaa! Lisukkeeksi meni joululaulucd sekä aiheeseen sopiva joulukortti (ei itsetehty :-).

My exchange travelled to Lennu . I collected her a Christmas song themed package. I decided to stitch Fa La La from Little House Needlework's Monthly Ornamet series. I finished it as a flatfold, my first time ever to finish a flatfold and it was such a nice experience! As another present, related to the stitching, I send her a Christmas song cd and a Christmas Card suited to the theme.

Ristipistotapaaminen / Stitcher's meeting

Mukavaa kolmatta adventtia kaikille! Haluan ihan aluksi näyttää tämän kuvan, sillä joululaulunuottikirjassa avoimena olevan aukeaman nurkkaan on soitonopettajani merkinnyt päiväyksen 12/12/80... Siitä on siis kolmekymmentä vuotta kun opettelin soittamaan Petteri Punakuonon. Viime viikkoina olen yrittänyt opetella sitä sujuvaksi jälleen :-)

Happy third advent everyone! I'd like to first show you this above picture as on the open spread of the Christmas song note book my piano teacher has marked the date 12/12/80. So it was 30 years ago when I learned to play Rudolp the Rednosed Raindeer. The past few weeks I've been trying to relearn it :-)

Marraskuun lopulla Kirsi järjesti jälleen ristipistotapaamisen luonaan. Meitä kokoontui sinne kahdeksan pistelijää, ja hauskaa oli, kuinkas muutenkaan...

 

Vaihdoimme tapaamisessa pikkujoululahjoja. Tuossa toisessa kuvassa maljakon takana pilkottaa minun Niinalta saamani lahja: jouluinen malli, viimeistelykangasta ja Niinan pistelemä pieni malli, jonka voin viimeistellä mieleisekseni. Minulla on jo ideoita siihen, ja kunhan pääsen viimeistelemään joululahjaksi meneviä koristeita, otan myös tämän työn alle.

We also had a Christmas present exchange in the meeting. In the second photo, behind the vase, you can see part of what I received from Niina: a Christmas kit, fabric for finishing and a small design stitched by Niina that I can finish how I want. I already have ideas for that and will do the finishing when I'll finish the ornaments I'm stitching currently. Thank you, Niina!

Kirsi näki keväällä blogissani kuvan virkkaamastani pupukorista ja ihastui siihen niin, että tilasi minulta samanlaisen, pienin muutoksin tosin (hinnaksi sovimme pari ristipistomallia :-) Virkkasin osat jo keväällä, mutta viimeistelyn tein vasta syksyllä, ja toimitin korin Kirsille tapaamisessa. Malli on siis The Lion Brandin, langat ovat Novitan (paitsi naaman kirjailussa dmc:n langat).

Kirsi loved the Bunny basket I showed in my blog last April and asked me to crochet one, with small changes, for her (for the price of two cross stitch booklets :-) I crocheted it already in spring, but put everything together in autumn, and presented it to Kirsi at the meeting. The pattern is from The Lion Brand and the yarn from Novita (with the exception of the face where I used dmc floss).

Syksyn töitä / Finished in autumn

Hupsistaheijaa, ja tulikin taas pitkä tauko bloggailuun... Syytä en tiedä, olisiko pitkä pimeä syksy uuvuttanut? Mutta josko nyt sitten olisi viimeinkin aika esitellä joitakin syksyn aikana valmistuneita töitä.

Hello after a long while... might it have been the long and dark autumn that got to me or why haven't I blogged in such a while? But here are finally finishes from past autumn.

Lokakuussa lähetin synttäriswap-paketin Jaanalle. Kokosin paketin keittiöteemalla, pisteltävän pyyhkeen lisäksi meni mallikirjanen sekä pari pisteltyä muffinsia. Kortin malli on Margaret Sherryn J is for Jaguar, muistaakseni Cross Stitcher -lehdestä.

In October I sent a birthday swap to Jaana. I collected the package with a kitchen theme, there was a stitchable tea towel, a DMC booklet and a couple of stitched cupcakes. The design for the card is J is for Jaguar by Margaret Sherry, from Cross Stitcher UK magazine, I think.

Pistelin samantien useammankin muffinsin, kaksi niistä jo esittelinkin edellisessä postauksessa. Kaksi meni nuorelle serkulle synttärilahjaksi (hän näki kun pistelin Jaanan lahjoja ja sanoi, että haluaisi itselleen tuon nallen ja hämähäkinseitin; mitäs kiltti serkkulikka sitten muuta kuin pistelemään, synttärit kun olivat jo ihan nurkan takana, vaihdoin hänelle menneisiin muffinseihin viimeistelyssä nuppineulat nappeihin). Ja loput kolme jäivät itselleni koristeiksi. Mallithan olivat siis The Cat's Whiskersin Cupcakes, Glorious Cupcakes -vihkosesta.

And while I was at it, I stitched some more cupcakes (two of these were already shown in previous post). Another two were birthday presents for my young cousin who saw me stitching Jaana's presents and said that she would like to have a bear and a spider's web. What's a nice cousin :-) to do other than grant the wish and stitch her the desired cupcakes as birthday presents, seeing that the birthday was looming in very near future. I just changed buttons to replace the pins in her cakes. And the last three cupcakes were for me. All the designs are from The Cat's Whiskers' Cupcakes, Glorious Cupcakes booklet.

Marraskuussa kudoin itselleni kämmekkäät, jotka vein sitten töihin. Minua palelee siellä aina talvisin, ja käteni ovat olleet töissä kylmät päivittäin, joten nämä tulivat tarpeeseen. Malli on nettilehti Ullasta, Marylka nimeltään. Lanka on Novitan Saana.

 

In November I knitted fingerless mittens. I took them to work. I'm always feeling cold there in winter, and my hands are so cold daily so these were desperately needed. The design is Marylka from the Finnish webzine Ulla, yarn is Novita Saana.

Edellämainittu nuori serkkuni oli pyytänyt äitiäni kutomaan yhdelle hänen pehmoeläimelleen asusteita talvea varten. Koira on n. 20 cm korkea. Tässä lopputulos, aika kivan näköiset, eikö vain? Myssy, huivi ja takki.

The above mentioned young cousin had asked my mother to knit some winter clothes to one of her stuffed animals (the dog is about 20cm/8" high). Here's the result, aren't they nice, the hat, the scarf and the coat?

Kävin tänään ulkoilemassa Aapon kanssa mökillä, Aapo nautti vapaana olemisesta. Maisemakin on niin ihanan näköinen tällä hetkellä, ei hetkeen haitannut kylmyyskään (hui miten kylmä pohjoistuuli tänään onkaan puhaltanut).

I went for a walk with Aapo at our (summer) cottage today, Aapo enjoyed running free. The scenery is so lovely, we got a very early winter this year, I didn't even mind the cold weather when watching the lovely scene (there has been this very nasty north wind today).

Valmistuneita / Finishes

Tässäpä muutama kesän aikana valmistunut työ. 
Here are few finishes from last summer.

Sepe-nalle valmistui syntymäpäivälahjaksi kummipojalle. Ohje on neulelehti Ullasta. Nallen naamaan en ole täysin tyytyväinen. Nappisilmät olisivat voineet parantaa asiaa, mutta kaksivuotiaalle ei sellaisia oikein viitsinyt laittaa tarjolle...

Sepe bear was a birthday present for my godson. The pattern is from the Finnish knitting webzine Ulla. I wasn't quite content with the face of the bear. Maybe eyes made from buttons would have been better, but I didn't think them suitable for a two-year-old.

Seuraavaksi valmistui kassi. Tai kassinpäällinen, jonka "vuori" on ihan tavallinen kangaskassi. Malli on Novitasta, Kesä 2010 lehdestä ja lanka niinikään Novitan, Puro Batik. Kassista tuli aivan ihana ja se toimii yhtenä projektikassina...

Next finish was a bag. Or rather the cover for a cloth bag. The pattern is from the Finnish magazine Novita, Summer 2010 and yarn from Novita as well, Puro Batik. The bag turned out very lovely, and it is now one of my project bags...

 Elokuussa valmistui toinen tupla-Chatelaine, eli Mini Mystery H (Amethyst) toiselle tädille syntymäpäivälahjaksi. Minimysteerin mukana tulleesta tryout-mallista tein perinteisesti kortin. Kuvassa sekä viisi vuotta sitten itselleni tekemä työ että lahjaksi mennyt. Huomasin kuvaa ottaessani, että tuossa omalla seinällä olevasta työstä puuttuu muutama pisto... (huomaattekohan mistä ne puuttuvat).

In August I finish another second Chatelaine, Mini Mystery H (Amethyst), which was a birthday present for another aunt. The tryout design that came with the Mini Mystery was used to make a card, as usual... In the picture there are both the first finish from five years ago, which hangs on my walls and the one made as a present. When I took the picture, I noticed that the one on my wall is missing a few stitches... (try if you can find where).

Sitten takaisin luonnon pariin. Kärpässienet ovat aivan ihania, siis katsella :-) Ne ovat ainoita sieniä, jotka tunnistan,  korvasienen lisäksi. Siksipä en sieniä syö...

Alla kuva, joka oli jo edellisessä postauksessa. Toisessa kuvassa on sama sieni seuraavana päivänä ja kolmannessa kuvassa viikon kuluttua. Lisäksi tarkempi kuva yhden sienen lakista sekä kuva pienestä "sieniperheestä".
  

Now back to the nature. Toadstool (Amanita muscaria) is pretty to watch, but not meant for eating as it's poisonous. It is however one of the mushrooms I recognize (the other one is false morel, gyromitra esculenta). And that's why I don't eat mushroom...

The first picture was shown also in the previous post, the second photo shows the same mushroom a day later and in the third photo it is a week later. I also photographed the cap of one mushroom, 'cause it just is so pretty :-) and there's also a photo of a small "family" of mushrooms.

Seuraavat kuvat pitää ehdottomasti klikata suuremmiksi, jotta niistä näkisi mitään... Kurjet tekivät muuttoa, ja lensivät isoina auroina taivaalla. Toinen parvi vielä hieman etsi suuntaa ja  ryhmittymistä.

The cranes moved to south and flew above the summer house in big flocks. The other one of the flocks was still searchin where to go and how to do it... You have you click the photos to see them larger, otherwise you probably don't see a thing :-)

Täällä ollaan / I'm still here

Hupsista sentään, tulipas pitkä tauko! Töihin paluu elokuun puolivälissä vei voimat ilmeisestikin :-) Mutta tässä vielä muutamia muistoja kesältä...

Whoops, I've been silent quite a while! Apparently returning to work after the holidays made me too tired :-) Here's  some memories of the summer.

Kesällä saapuneet vaihdot piristivät aittaani mökillä.

I kept the exchanges that arrived during the summer at the summer house.

 

Aapo nautti kesästä mökillä, mutta kotiinpaluukin sujui ongelmitta. Lenkit menivät ensialkuun pääsiassa siten, että koira haisteli ja emäntä seisoskeli :-)

Aapo enjoyed the summer at the summer house, but didn't have any problems returning home. At first the walks were mainly just the dog sniffing and me standing still :-)

Syyskuu alkoi kauniina, ensimmäinen päivä oli lämmin ja aurinkoinen. Iltalenkillä törmäsin näin kauniiseen "kuvaan", onneksi olimme lähestulkoon kotona, joten valokuvan ottaminen onnistui hyvin lenkin jälkeen.

September started sunny and warm, and when I returned from the evening walk with the dog, I saw this pretty sight. Luckily we were near home, so I returned to take photographs after taking the dog home.

Kesäkausi päättyi mökillä komeasti kokolla (juhannuksena kun sitä ei päässyt polttamaan).

The summer season ended with a beautiful bonfire (since we couldn't burn it at Midsummer).

Toki vielä viihdymme mökillä viikonloppuisin. Aapo nauttii viilentyneistä keleistä ja vapaana olemisesta.

Of course we still spend the weekends at the summer house. Aapo enjoys the cooler days and being free.

Nämä komeat sienet saavat onneksi olla koiralta rauhassa :-)

These pretty mushrooms luckily stay safe, the dog is not interested in them :-)

Käsitöiden saralla on toki jotain valmistuneita, ja myös edistystä vanhoissa. Esittelen niitä sitten seuraavissa postauksissa.

I've finished some knitting, crocheting and cross stitch projects, and progressed with wips. I'll show them in the following posts.
