Messuilla / At the Craft Fair

Käväisin eilen pikaisesti (heh) Kädentaidot-messuilla. Nähtävää ja ostettavaa oli paljonkin, mutta sain pidettyä itseni kurissa tiukan budjetin avulla :-) Näkyi siellä muutama tuttukin, terkkuja teille, oli kiva nähdä! Otetaan ensi vuonna uusiksi...

I visited the local, quite large annual Craft Fair yesterday. There was plenty to see and to buy, but I managed not to buy too much, I had a tight budget :-) Among the large crowd there were also some familiar faces, it was nice to meet friends there, even briefly! Next year again...

Tässä ostokseni, suurin osa Violariumin kojulta. Ostokseni ylittivät 50 euroa, joten sain kankaita ja lankaa sisältävän paketin kaupanpäällisiksi (kuvan oikeassa reunassa, lukuunottamata alakulman kankaita, jotka ostin Käsityökorista). Kaulakoru on paikalliselta yrittäjältä ja se piti laittaa heti kaulaan, se on niin ihana :-)

So here's what I bought. The charts and magazines are from Violarium. As my shopping exceeded 50 euroas, I received a package as a thank you (the fabrics and floss on the right side of the photo; except the fabrics at the bottom right corner were from a different booth). The necklace is from a local shop, and I had to wear it right away, it's so pretty :-)

Tuo lehti, Sampler and Antique Needlework, on ihan uusi tuttavuus minulle, kiva tutustua siihen. Tralalan La Parisienne ja Isa Vautierin Kokeshi Petit Fleur saattavat päästä tammikuun hassutusaloituksiksi (tilanne tosin saattaa muuttua kunhan ennätän käydä läpi varastoani, sieltä löytynee paljon sellaista mitä haluaisin aloittaa...)

The magazine, Sampler and Antique Needlework, is new to me, it will be nice to read these. La Parisienne of Tralala and Kokeshi Petit Fleur by Isa Vautier might become Crazy January Challenge starts (however, this is subject to change as I still have to go through my stash, so I might still change my mind when I find other designs I want to stitch...)

Synttärivaihto, osa 2 / Birthday swap, part 2

Marelolla oli synttärit syyskuussa, ja hänelle kulkeutui vuoden toinen Ristipistoilijat-blogin synttärivaihtopaketti. Tein pari pientä pistelyä, joista toisen viimeistelin avaimenperäksi (tai mihin sen nyt sitten haluaakin ripustaa) ja toisen kaulakoruksi (sillekin tietysti löytyy haluttaessa muita käyttötarkoituksia). Mukaan lähti myös mallikirja, kankaita ja lankaa.

Marjut had birthday in September, and my second package from Ristipistoijat (Cross Stitchers) blog's birthday swap went to her. I stitched her a key ring and a necklace, both can of course be used for other purposes as well, if so wished. I also sent her a book with small stitch motifs, some fabric and floss.

M-kirjain on Valerie Lejeunen kirjasta Cross Stitch Letters, ja se on pistelty 25 ct Floballe yhden yli dmc-langalla.

The letter M is from Valerie Lejeune's book Cross Stitch Letters, and it is stitched over one on 25 ct Floba with dmc.

Riipuksen malli on ilmaismalli Je brode -blogista. Se on myös pistelty yhden yli 25 ct Floballe dmc-langalla.

The design for the necklace is from Je brode blog. It is also stitched over one on 25 ct Floba with dmc floss.

Ja tässä vielä koko paketti. Käärin lahjat suloiseen muumipaperiin... :-)

Onpas taas aikaa vierähtänyt edellistä postauksesta. Voisiko tämän äänettömyyden pistää kiireen ja väsymyksen piikkiin; no ainakin voi yrittää... :-)

Jos alkaisin purkamaan tapahtumia tuoreimmasta alkaen. Osallistuin Michellen blogissa Halloween-arvontaan, ja voitin näin upean paketin. Tuo koriste on tosi ihana, pistelyt molemmilla puolilla. Namit olivat myös hyviä. Ja huomatkaapa nuo suloiset napit (kuvan saa suuremmaksi klikkaamalla sitä).

Wow, it's been quite a while since I last posted. Could I blame it on being busy or tired; well I can at least try to blame... :-) 

Let's start from the most recent event. I participated in a Halloween giveaway on Michelle's blog, and won this gorgeous package. The fob is truly lovely, there's stitching on both sides. The candies were quite tasty as well. And can you see those cute buttons (you can click on the photo to make it bigger)...

Chatelaine Smalls Exchange 2011

Osallistuin tänäkin vuonna viime vuoden tapaan Chatelaine-keskustelupalstalla järjestettyyn vaihtoon. Sain aivan hirmuisen ihanan paketin Charlielta. Suurkiitos!

I participated this year as well in a Chatelaine smals exchange. I received such a lovely package from Charlie. Thank you so much!

 
Tähän biscornuun on käytetty kahta Chatelainen ilmaismallia: Debi's Roses ja Manuela's Sunflower. Toiselle puolelle on myös kirjailtu tekstiä, Chatelaine Smalls Exchange 2011. Tosi  kiva idea! Biscornun toisella puolella on koristeena leppäkerttu ja toisella puolella ampiainen.

Charlie used two Chatelaine freebies to make a biscornu, Debi's Roses and Manuela's Sunflower. On the other side there's also the text: Chatelaine Smalls Exchange 2011. What a clever idea! On the other side of the biscornu there's a ladybug charm, and on the other side a bee charm.  

Sain myös näppärän rasian ja muita kivoja ekstroja. / I also received a very useful box and some stitching goodies.

Ja katsokaapa kuinka malli muuntuu kun kun sen tekee erilaiselle kankaalle ja viimeistelee eri tavalla! Neulavihko on kevään ilmaismallivaihdosta, Pikeltä.

And take a look at this. How different does the same design look when stitched on a different fabric and finished in a different way. The needle book came from Pike in a freebie exchange earlier this year.

Oma vaihtoni meni, viimevuotiseen tapaan :-) Annettelle USA:han... Pistelin suht tuoreen mallin, Micro 2:n ja viimeistelin sen tyynyksi. Mukaan laitoin vähän kangasta ja lankaa, mutta niistä unohdin ottaa kuvan. Annetten blogista löytyy kuva koko vaihdosta.

I sent an exchange to Annette, she received my exchange also last year :-) I stitched a quite new design, Micro 2, and finished it as a pillow. I included some fabric and floss in the package, but forgot to take a photograph of them. There's a photo of the phole package in Annette's blog.

Royal Guard & Anubis

Ostin viikolla uuden Cross Stitcherin (issue 242?), ja oli sitten ihan pakko pistellä saman tien lehden mukana tullut pikkupistely, Royal Guard. Tällä hetkellä se koristaa muiden magneettien kanssa jääkaapin ovea mökillä, mutta ehkäpä se muuttaa kotiin sitten syksyn tullen :-)

I bought the latest Cross Stitcher (issue 242?) earlier this week, and I just had to start right away the stitch kit that came with it. So now a Roayl Guard decorates the fridge together with other magnets at the summer house (he'll probably come home later in the autumn :-)

Yksi hassutuskin on edistynyt hieman. Niilin kartta on saanut ensimmäisen kuvan sekä hieman vettä :-)

One of the Crazy January Challenge starts has had progress. The Nile Map now has the first picture and some water, too :-)

Mökillä nukkuma-aittani oven pielessä on kesän ajan päivystänyt kaksi kaunista kassia, synttärilahjani. Ne ovat päässeet käyttöön aina tarpeen tullen.

At the summer house, I've had these beautiful bags (my birthday presents); I've been using them every now and then.

Tässä kesäherkkuni, satoa on saanut jo reilun viikon, nam! Ja lisää on toivottavasti vielä luvassa, raakileita on *paljon*.

My summer treat, yammy tomatoes! And there's plenty of greens waiting to ripen (is that how you say it in English?)

Ja edelleen otan mielelläni vastaan ehdotuksia Miss Parisin viimeistelyyn, jokunen houkutteleva on jo tullutkin. 

And although there's already some food for thought for finishing Miss Paris, ideas are still welcome.

Mam'zelle

Miss Paris -mallin pistot valmistuivat jo jokin aika sitten, mutta sydänten ompelu vaatikin aikaa (piti pistellä ja viimeistellä yksi vaihto ennen sitä). Tein siis pilven ristipistoilla, mutta sydämet päätinkin leikata huovasta ja ommella paikoilleen.

Vielä tämä pitäisi viimeistellä. Sain mallin syntymäpäivälahjaksi Outilta, ja mukana tuli myös kangasta viimeistelyyn. Haluaisin sen käyttää, mutta tekisinkö tästä tyynyn vai jotain muuta? Olisiko teillä ideoita? Pistelyn koko on n. 20x15cm.

I finished stitiching Miss Paris already a while ago, but only managed to attach the hearts today (I had to stitch and finish an exhange in the meantime).  I stitched the cloud, but decided to cut the hearts from felt, and sew them on.

I received the chart from Outi for my birthday and she also sent some fabric for the finishing. I would like to use it, but how should I finish this? As a pillow or something else? Ideas are very welcome! The size of the stitiching is about 20x15cm (8x6 inches)

Eilen kävelimme Aapon kanssa lyhyehkön lenkin (kuuma tuli silti!) ihastelemaan mökkinaapurin apilapeltoa. Tämän ohi ajamme joka kerran kun mökille tulemme tai sieltä poistumme. Pelto jatkuu saman verran kumpareen toisella puolella.... Tuoksu on kertakaikkiaan huumaava!

Maisemat ovat muutoinkin mukavat... (kaikki kuvathan saa siis klikattua suuremmiksi :-)

Yesterday I made a short walk (it was so hot in the sun!) with Aapo, to admire the lovely clover field of the next door neighbor at our summer house. We drive past the field everytime coming or going to the cottage. The field continues on the other side of the hill... The scent is so lovely!

The scenery around our cottage is lovely as well... (remember that you can click on all pictures to make them larger :-)

Kortti / A card

Läheinen työkaveri täytti pyöreitä alkukuusta, ja halusin tehdä hänelle juhlan kunniaksi kortin. Kukkavarret poimin Kirsin ilmaismallista (olen niitä käyttänyt aikaisemminkin), ja kukiksi tein tällä kertaa erikoispistoja.

A collegue at work had birthday at the begining of July and I wanted to stitch her a card. The stems are from Kirsi's freebie (I've used it also earlier) and the flowers are made with specialty stitches.

Touko-kesäkuun vaihteessa ensimmäistä kertaa kukkineet pilvikirsikkapuut (niitähän on kaksi) eivät vielä tee kovin runsasta satoa, tämä on ainokainen löytämämme marja. Mikähän lintu sen ensimmäisenä huomaa ;-)

The pin cherry which bloomed in late May and early June for the first time will not provide a big crop the first year as this is the only berry we've found in the two trees. I wonder which bird will find it first ;-)

Valmistuneita ja saatua / Finished and received

Kevään ajalta on jäänyt bloggaamatta useampi valmistunut juttu, ja joku saatukin. Ja on tässä mukana ihan tuorekin valmistunut hassutus. Katsotaanpa mitä kaikkea arkistoista löytyykään (itse asiassa osa puuttuu sieltä vieläkin, joten täytyy palata asiaan uudelleen myöhemmässä vaiheessa)...

I haven't blogged about all that got finished during the spring or early summer. There's also something received. And something quite recently finished, one of the crazy January starts. Now let's see what's in the archives (actually there's still something missing from there, I'll have to come back to those sometime later)...

Tämän projektin alkua jo vilautinkin blogissa joskus maaliskuulla. Työ valmistui hyvissä ajoin huhtikuussa veljeni syntymäpäivälahjaksi.

I showed the start of this project in my blog some time in March, I think. I finished it in April well ahead of my brothers birthday.

Äitienpäivälahjaksi tein kortin sekä pienen neulatyynyn, materiaalit ja mallit olivat Cross Stitch Card Shop ja Cross Stitcher -lehdistä. Kuva on kännykällä otettu, siksi hieman huonolaatuisempi...

I made my mother a card and a pin cushion for mother's day in early May. The small kits came with the magazines Cross Stitch Card Shop and Cross Stitcher. Sorry for the bad photo, it was taken with my cell phone.

Ja sitten vihdoinkin esittelyyn se saatu juttu. Tein alkukeväästä Outin kanssa vaihtokauppaa. Lähetin hänelle pari silikoonista kuppikakkuvuokaa, ja sain häneltä maksuksi nämä kaikki ihanuudet, mukaan lukien saksikoristebiscornu!

And now finally what I received. I made a trade with Outi in the spring; I sent her a couple of silicon cupcake cups, and she sent me all of these, including a scissor fob biscornu!

Ja pari hassutustyötäkin on valmistunut. Maatuskan sain valmiiksi toukokuussa, Flora valmistui eilen. Nyt on siis kuusi työtä valmiina; osa jopa viimeisteltynäkin ;-) Maatuskan viimeistelen sitten kun saan ne kaksi muutakin valmiiksi. Saan aikaa miettiä kuinka ne viimeistelisin; tekisinkö niistä maatuskanmuotoisia koristeita vai kehystäisinkö ne vai mitä ihmettä niille tekisin... Myös Flora jää odottamaan sisartyönsä (Butterfly Garden) valmistumista (jospa aloittaisin sen sitten seuraavassa hassutuksessa). Samasta sarjasta Blossom on ollut valmiina jo pidempään. Nämäkin ajattelin viimeistellä yhdessä. Viimeistelyideakin on jo olemassa...

And I've finised a couple of Crazy January starts. Small Baboushka was finished in May, Flora yesterday. Six out of 15 are now finished. I will do the finishing touches on Baboushka after I'll finish the two other Baboushka designs. That'll give me time to decide how to finish them; as baboushka-shaped ornaments or do I frame them or what... Flora will also wait for her sister design, Butterfly Garden. Maybe I'll start that next year in January Challenge :-) I already have Blossom waiting, and I will finish all three of them together; I already have an idea for that...

Monissa blogeissa on ollut esillä kuvausassistentteja, melkeinpä kaikki kissoja. Mutta kyllä koiratkin osaavat... :-)

There are many blogs where there are photos taken under strict supervision by cats. But dogs can assist as well... :-)

Synttärit / Birthday

Aivan alkuun kiitokset Aapon kehuista! Minustakin Aapo on aika komea koira ;-) ja on se myös mukavaa seuraa. Kiva kaveri kaiken kaikkiaan, olen todennut sen moneen kertaan.

I want to start by thanking you of all the lovely words of Aapo in the previous comments. I agree that he's quite handsome ;-) and he's such a nice company as well.

Vanhenin tässä taannoin taas vuodella. Ristipisto-blogin synttäriswapin myötä minulle saapui edeltävinä päivinä kaksi pakettia, jotka kärsivällisesti odottivat, että saan ne avata (ja minäkin maltoin odottaa :-)

I had birthday some time ago. In the private Cross stitchers' blog birthday swap I received two big envelopes prior to the bday. The waited patiently, as did I :-)

Syntymäpäivän aamuna ne sitten avasin. Ensin tuon oikeanpuolimmaisen, Virpiltä tulleen. Sieltä paljastui kangaskäärö ja pistely, eli aivan ihana kassi! Pistely toimii kassin taskuna, josta löytyi kortti sekä C Mon Monden malli.

I opened the envelopes in the morning of my birthday. Virpi's package revealed some fabric and a stitching, which proved to be a gorgeous tote bag! The stitching is a pocket and inside the pocket there were a card and a chart of C Mon Monde.

Kassissa oli lisää ihanuuksia, Virpin konekirjoma pussukka sekä kankaita.

Inside the bag there were more lovely things, a small bag machine embroided by Virpi and some fabric.

Ja pussukan sisällä oli vielä vähän lisää lahjoja... Tuollaisia puolia en olekaan vielä käyttänyt, mutta heti niille kehittelin käyttöä tuleviin projekteihin.

And inside the small bag there were even some more presents... I haven't used bobbins before, but I have already decided how to use them in my future projects.

Paketista paljastuivat nämä ihanuudet. Toinen kassi! Ja toinen C Mon Monden malli, johon Outi oli laittanut mukaan langat, kankaan ja taustakankaankin. Kyllä minua on hemmoteltu! Kassi toimii tällä hetkellä Miss Parisin projektipussina :-) Huomatkaa myös ihanainen perhosnauha sekä pussillinen rusetteja sekä luistinkoriste (muistoksi alkuvuodesta Outille lähettämistäni vaihdoista :-) Outin blogissa on kuva kassin vuoresta ja vuoren tarina. Kuvan saa siis klikattua suuremmaksi.

Inside the package there there were all these gorgeous presents. Another bag! And another C Mon Monde design, and Outi also sent the floss, fabric and backing fabric for the design. How I've been spoiled! The bag is currently a project bag for Miss Paris :-) Please also note the lovely butterfly ribbon and the small pouch of bows. Ja Miss Parishan piti heti samana päivänä aloittaa, kun kaikki tykötarpeetkin olivat olemassa. Tässä ensimmäisen viikonlopun tulos. Ja jälkimmäisessä kuvassa on tämänhetkinen tilanne, toisen pistelyviikonlopun jälkeen.

And of course I had to start Miss Paris the same day, when all the materials were provided to me. Here's the result of the first weekend. The second photo shows the current progress, after the second weekend of stitching.

Kovasti aikaa minulla ei ole käsitöille ollut viime viikkoina, mutta aloitinpa silti vain uuden ison virkkuutyönkin. Ja ei, tästä ei tule huivia...

I haven't had too much time for stitching and stuff the past few weeks, but I managed to start a big crochet project. And no, it's not going to be a scarf...
