Joulukortti / Christmas card

Osallistuin Kirsin järjestämään pistellyn joulukortin vaihtoon. Sain tämän kertakaikkisen upean kortin Aijalta. Malli on Couleur d'Etoilen joulukorttimallipakkauksesta Joyeux Noël. Valkoisella langalla mustalle kankaalle pisteltynä se on henkeäsalpaavan kaunis! Kiitos Aija!

I participated in the stitched Christmas card exchange organized by Kirsi. I received this lovely, lovely card card from Aija. The design is one of the cards in Couleur d'Etoile's Christmas card chart pack Joyeux Noël and it is stitched with white floss on black fabric. It's gorgeous! Thank you very much, Aija!



Itse pistelin kortin Lorille. Malli on lokakuun Gift of Stitching -lehdestä, Kay Hanson Cavnarin Joy to You, pidän siitä kovasti, ja jossain vaiheessa aion pistellä sen itsellenikin.

I stitched a card for Lori. The design is from October issue of Gift of Stitching, Joy to You by Kay Hanson Cavnar. I like it a lot, and will stitch it later on for myself, too.

Kolmas adventti / Third advent

Ensimmäinen syntymäpäivä, osa 2 / First birthday, vol 2

Tästä pienestä pallerosta on kasvanut iso, yhä pentumaisen energinen, mutta hirmuisen kiltti ja tietenkin niin ihana hauveli...

My little pup has grown up to be an energetic, but so very kind and compliant and of course so adorable...

(Pahoittelen jälkimmäisen kuvan huonoa laatua, päivänvalo ei oikein tähän vuodenaikaan riitä.../Sorry for the poor quality of the latter photo, there just is not enough day light this time of the year...)

Joululauluvaihto / Christmas song exchange

Sain Lennun järjestämässä joululauluvaihdossa paketin Johannalta. Tämä ihastuttavilla jouluisilla väreillä tehty koriste kimaltelee juuri sopivan juhlavasti, joten Johanna valitsi lauluksi Jouluyö, juhlayön. Malli on Just Ornaments -lehdestä. Paketissa oli mukana myös kaksi kangasta, toinen pistelyyn, toinen viimeistelyyn (ja sille löytyi heti käyttöä, pitkään suunnittelemani pikkuprojekti taitaa viimeinkin toteutua :-)

Itse tein vaihdon Kirsille. Hänen mieltymyksistään valikoitui vaihdon aiheeksi lumi ja joululauluksi siten Valkea joulu. Pistelin hänelle koristeeksi the Gift of Stitching -lehden marraskuun numerosta mallin Christmas Snowfall.

Seuraksi sille neuloin kaksi lumihiutaleen mallista pikkuliinaa (malli löytyi kirjasta Knitted lace) ja laitoin pakettiin myös lumihiutaleen muotoisen langan pidikkeen.

In a Christmas song themed exchange organized by Lennu I received a package from Johanna. She had chosen the song Silent night, holy night and the ornament is stitched with lovely Christmasy colours and it glitters just enough. The design is from Just Ornaments magazine. She also sent me two fabrics, one for stitching, one for finishing (and for that one I already have plans :-). Thank you Johanna, I really like the package!

I sent an exchage to Kirsi. She likes, among other things, snowy scenery, so I chose the song White Christmas and stitched her a snowflake ornament (design: Christmas Snowfall from the November issue of the Gift of Stitching). I also knitted two little doilys (design from the book Knitted lace), shaped like snowflakes and sent her also a snowflake shaped thread winder.

Toinen adventti / Second advent

Itsenäisyyspäivän kunniaksi sytytin myös perinteiset kynttilät ikkunalle.

Today is the second advent Sunday, so two candles are burning.

December 6th is the independence day of Finland (92 years of independence this year) so I also lit the tradional two blue and white candles on the window.

Hiljaiseloa / Silence

Blogini on viettänyt hiljaiseloa ajanpuutteen vuoksi. Aloitin syyskuussa syyslukukauden kestävät kirjapito-opinnot, jotka vievät useamman illan viikosta. Joulukuussa on tentti, sen jälkeen helpottaa. Valmistuneita töitä on jonkun verran, yritän saada niitä pikkuhiljaa esiteltyä. Mukavaa lokakuun loppua!

My blog has been quiet these past weeks, as I've been busy with accountancy studies. The final exam is in December, so after that I can return to the normal routines. I have finished projects to show, and I'll try to post them little by little. Happy October!

Kaunotar / A beauty

Ylpeänä esittelen uuden perheenjäsenen :-)

Vanhempani muuttivat alkukesästä hieman pienempään asuntoon, ja siinä yhteydessä perheen piano muutti minun luokseni. Jee! Tämä on ollut meillä jo kolmisenkymmentä vuotta, ja ikää sillä on likemmäs 60 vuotta. Todellinen kaunotar! Pääsen naapureiden iloksi verryttelemään soittotaitoani...

My parents moved to a bit smaller apartment this summer, and at the same time our family's piano moved to my apartment. Yay! We have had her for about thirty years, and she is nearly sixty years old. What a beauty! Now I can delight the neighbours when I start bringing back the long forgotten playing skills...

Turkoosia / Turquoise

Kirsin järjestämän toukokuisen ristipistotapaamisen jälkeen päätin kiittää häntä jollakin itsetehdyllä. Yksivärisestä vaihdosta jäi sen verran Mandarin Petitin puuvillalankaa, että pystyin virkkaamaan tämän pikkuliinan (on muuten ihan selkeästi lempimallini, olen tehnyt näitä vuosien varrella monia). Liinan seuraksi halusin tehdä biscornun. Sen tekeminen viivästyi kesälle, ja viimeistely elokuun lopulle... Mutta pääsinpä samalla kiittämään postikorttivaihdon järjestämisestä, siihen oli tosi mukava osallistua.

Mallit biscornuun ovat ilmaismalleja netistä, luulisin (en millään muista mistä nämä ne löysin), ja pistelin ne 25ct Floballe yhden yli, yhdellä Mandarin Petitin säikeellä, eli biscornu on tehty samalla langalla kuin liina. Tämä on muuten ensimmäinen biscornu, jonka olen tehnyt!


Kirsi organized a cross stitch meeting in May, and I wanted to thank her with something selfmade. I had some Mandarin Petit yarn left over from the monocrome exchange, so I crocheted a small doily (this is my all time favourite pattern, I've crocheted it many, many times). I also wanted to stitch a biscornu to accompany the doily. I managed to stitch it during the summer holidays and finish it at the end of August... But that gave me a chance to also thank her for organizing the postcard exchange. The designs used in the biscornu are freebies, I think (unfortunately I can't remember where I found them), and I stitched them over one on 25ct Floba, with one strand of the Mandarin Petit yarn, so the biscornu and doily are made using the same yarn/floss. This is the first biscornu I've made!
