Tehtyä ja saatua / Made and received

Onpa taas päässyt aikaa vierähtämään edellisestä postauksesta. Väsymystä syytän, ja väsymyksestä syytän tautia, joka ei sitten kuitenkaan näytä iskevän täysillä, mutta vie voimat kuitenkin :-(

Mutta siis, jo liki kaksi viikkoa sitten Maajo järjesti oikein mukavan ristipistotapaamisen kotonaan. Oli taas niin hauskaa viettää aikaa ihanan harrastuksen ja sen mukanaan tuomien ihanien ihmisten kanssa :-)

Well, some time has passed since the last post. I blame weariness, and for the weariness I blame the flu that didn't hit with full power, but took all my energy :-(

But anyhow, Saturday nearly two weeks ago, Maajo organized a stitcher's meeting at her home. It was, again, so nice to spend time with this lovely hobby and the lovely people this hobby has brought about :-)

Halusin vielä Maajolle itsetehdyn tuliaisen, ja pistelinkin hänelle pienen possumallin, kun muistin hänen pitävän söpöistä possuista :-) Possun viimeistelyä mietin pitkään, mutta päädyin sitten ompelemaan, ihan ekaa kertaa koskaan, pienen kassin, johon possupistely päätyi taskuksi. Kassista näkee ompelijan harjaantumattomuuden, mutta Maajo otti sen onneksi vastaan oikealla asenteella :-) Mutta olen kyllä ihan hirmuisen ylpeä saavutuksestani, ja pitäisi jossain vaiheessa tehdä pieni kassi itsellenikin...

I wanted to bring Maajo something handmade, so I stitched a small pig design, as I remembered that she likes cute pigs :-) Deciding how to finish it took a bit more time, but finally I decided to sew a small tote bag, for the first time ever! The little pig was made into a pocket. You can see (well hopefully not from the photos) that the bag was made by a person who has very little experience in sewing, but luckily Maajo had the right attitude when receiving it :-) But I am sincerely very proud of my achievement, and want to sew more tote bags, there's one finished stitching I want to turn into a a bag for myself...

Outi hyppäsi jälleen kyytiini, ja matkat sujuivatkin taas niin rattoisasti. Sain häneltä myös ja taas aivan mahtavaa kyytipalkkaa, ihana pieni rasia ja paljon kylkiäisiä. Katsokaapa noita kankaita, aivan upeat printit niissä. Ja koko paketti oli niin kivasti kääritty ja solmittu pitsinauhalla ja kiinnitetty upeilla neuloilla! Napit ovat niin nättejä ja täytyy sanoa että DMC:n valkoinen lanka tuli tarpeeseen. Tuntuu siltä, että koko ajan ostaa lisää valkoista, mustaa (310), ecrua ja B5200:aa, ja silti ne ovat aina lopussa kun niitä tarvitsisi :-) Rasia kotiutui olkkarin pöydälle, ja viihtyy siinä oikein hyvin.

Outi travelled with me again, and once again it was so nice to have company on the road. And she gave me, again, a gorgeous thank-you package: a lovely small box and lots of goodies. Look at those fabrics, what lovely prints they have. And the whole package was so nicely wrapped and tied with a lace ribbon and couple of decorative pins! The buttons are so pretty and I have to say that the DMC white is really needed. It is amazing how I feel like I buy white, black (310), ecru and B5200 all the time and still don't have them when needed :-) The box is on my coffee table, and so looks lovely!

Pistelin Maajolla heppaa eteenpäin, ja se edistyikin hyvää vauhtia. Niin hyvää, että päätin saada sen viikonlopun kuluessa valmiiksi. Ja sunnuntaina se valmistuikin! Tämähän on tilaustyö, ja tilaaja jo päätti kuinka tämä viimeistellään. Vaihtoehtoja oli pari, mutta kun kävimme ostoksilla ja löysimme nätit kehykset niin se ratkaisi asian. Yritän siis toukokuun aikana saada hepan kehyksiin.

I continued stitching the horse and made great progress with it. So great that I decided to finish it during the weekend. And I did finish it on Sunday! This was a "commission" work, and the buyer already decided how this will be finalized. We found a lovely frame, so I'll try to get the horsey into a frame in May.

WIPocalypse, report #4

Uusi täysikuu, uusi WIPocalypse-raportti. Kaikkea en esittele, sillä joulujutut odottavat vielä omaa postausta ja hys-hysejä en vielä näytä :-) Chatelainen Celtic Mandala sai lisää pistoja, ja enolle tein syntymäpäivälahjaksi auton. Malli on Cross Stitch Card Shop -lehdestä (tarkemmat tiedot ovat tällä hetkellä eri paikassa kuin minä joten lisään ne myöhemmin). Laitoin kortin kehyksiin, kun ajattelin (vaatimattomasti) että siihen ihastutaan kuitenkin niin kovin, että se halutaan pitää esillä koko ajan... Eno kyllä kiittelikin ajatustani.

Another full moon, another WIPocalypse report. I won't show you all I've stitched since the last report, as the Christmas stitching will get a separate post at some point, and the hush-hush stitching cannot be shown yet. But I did put some more stitches on Chatelaine's Celtic Mandala and I also stitched a car for an uncle's birthday. The design is from Cross Stitch Card Shop magazine (all the specs are in different place as I am at the moment, so I will add them later). I framed the card, as I (modestly) thought that my uncle will love it so that he will want to see it all the time... He did thank my thought :-)

Uusi vanha / New old

Esitelläänpä vihdoin viimein tämä jo vuonna 2004 valmistunut pistely, eli Teresa Wentzlerin Nooan Arkki. Tämä oli ensimmäinen reilusti iso valmistunut pistely, ja ensimmäinen, jossa tein yhden yli pistoja. Tuli sitten pikkaisen harjoiteltua niitä... Onneksi en tajunnut asiaa ennen kuin aloitin työn ;-) Valmistuttuaan työ hautautui valmistuneiden "pinoon", kunnes nyt alkuvuodesta kaivoin sen sieltä esiin, annoin sille kylvyn ja vein sen kehystäjälle. Löysimmekin oikein hyvän yhdistelmän kehyksiä ja paspista, sanoisin. Tykkään lopputuloksesta kovasti, tämä pääsi makkarin seinälle.

I think it's about time to show you one finish from 2004, namely Teresa Wentzler's Noah's Ark. It was my first big finish, and the very first where I did one-over-one stitching. And boy did I get plenty of practice with that... Luckily I didn't realize it before starting the design ;-) After I finished this, it got buried in the "pile" of finished designs until I dug it out earlier this year and gave it a bath and then introduced it to a framer. I think we found a really nice combination of frame and mat for it. I really like it, and it's now hanging on my bedroom wall.

WIPocalypse, report #3

Koska viime viikon lopulla oli täysikuu, on siis jälleen aika WIPocalypse-raportille. Edellisen täysikuun jälkeen olen pistellyt kaikkiaan kolmea keskeneräistä työtä: Victorian Lavender Sachet, Ce que j'étais hier sekä heppa. Alla niiden nykytilanteeet. Pistelin myös kaksi pientä nopeaa työtä. Niitä en tähän lisää, mutta ne löytyvät täältä ja täältä. Lisäksi olen pistellyt hieman jouluisissakin tunnelmissa, mutta siitä postaan sitten aivan erikseen.

It was full moon at the end of last week, so it's time for another WIPocalypse report. After the previous full moon I've been stitching three wips: Victorian LAvender Sachet, Ce que j'étais hier, and the horse. Pictures of their current progress are below. I also stitched a couple of quick finishes, they can be found here and here. I've also been stitching some Christmas-y stuff, but I'll post about that separately at some point.

Olin eilen Nightwishin konsertissa, fiilistellään sitä vielä vähän täälläkin :-) Valokuva on ihan peruskännykällä ja näyte Jyväskylän konsertista paria iltaa aikaisemmin (ei vielä löytynyt Tampereen kuvaa YouTubesta). Näin upeasti se alkoi...

I went to a Nightwish concert last night, and I'm still feeling the energy. The photo was taken with my very basic cell phone and the footage is from the concert in Jyväskylä a couple of nights earlier (no one has posted footage from the Tampere concert to YouTube yet). This is they way it started...

Lahja / Present

Hupsista, tämähän on unohtunut esitellä... Mia juhlisti synttäreitään viime kuussa, ja Ristipistoilijat-blogin synttärivaihdon merkeissä lähetin hänelle paketin. Paketissa oli mukana Helga Mandl'n Will You Be My Friend, jota jo aiemmin esittelin; tämähän oli tämänvuotisen ristipistohassutuksen ensimmäinen aloitus. Laitoin pistelyn yksinkertaisiin kehyksiin. Ainakin omasta mielestäni tämä on hirmuisen herkkä ja kaunis malli :-)

Oops, I have forgotten to show you the package I sent Mia on her birthday earlier in February. This is part of a birthday swap I'm participating. I framed my first Crazy January Challenge start (which was also my first finish this year), this is of course Helga Mandl's Will You Be My Friend, a beautiful and delicate design.

Paketista löytyi myös helmikuun teemakukka, Mirabilian Violet-mallin muodossa. Auttaakseni Mian alkuun, laitoin mukaan pistelyssä tarvittavat helmet.

There was also the February Birth Flower in the package, in the form of Mirabilia's Violet. To help Mia start stitching it, I also included the pearls the design uses.

Ja saadakseni jonkinlaisen yhdistävän lenkin näille ylhäällä esitellyille, laitoin pakettiin myös sakset, joille pistelin koristeeksi perhosen orvokinsävyisellä DMC:n Colour Variations -langalla.

And to connect the two above shown presents, I sent Mia also scissors with a butterfly fob, stitched with violet coloured floss (DMC Colour Variations).

Ystävänpäivätapaaminen / CS Meeting

Mia oli kutsunut meitä pistelijöitä ystävänpäivähenkiseen tapaamiseen viime lauantaina. Meitä oli mukava joukko paikalla, ja kuten totuttua, juttu luisti ja nauru raikui. Ja pistojakin syntyi...

Mia had invited us fellow stitchers to a cross stitch meeting last Saturday. There was a nice group of us and as usual, plenty of chatter and laughter. And quite a lot of stitches as well...

Tapaamisessa järjestettiin myös ystävänpäiväteemainen vaihto. Minä sain Miian tekemän kauniin kassin (juu, kasseja tuntuu vaihdoissa tulevan ihan mukavaan tahtiin (kiva kiva!), eikä tämä itse asiassa ollut ensimmäinen Miialta saamani kassi :-) Pistelyn malli on Peripheria Designsin.

There was also a Valentine's Day themed exchange in the meeting. I got the lovely bag Mia had made (yes, it seems that bags are coming my way in exchanges - and you won't see me complain - and this wasn't even the first bag from Mia :-) The design is from Peripheria Designs.

Minun tekemäni vaihto päätyi Tarjalle. Pistelin sydämenmuotoiseen rasiaan sopivan mallin. Tämä on ilmaismalli, mutta en enää yhtään muista mistä... Ja teemaa täydentämään täytin rasian sydämenmuotoisilla nameilla :-)

My exchange went to Tarja. I stitched a heart for a heart-shaped box. It is a freebie, but unfortunately I can't remember where from... And to go with the theme, I filled the box with heart-shaped candies :-)

Sain jälleen mukavaa matkaseuraa Outista, joka antoi minulle kyydistä kiitokseksi pienen kassillisen "herkkuja". Ihana tyyny, jossa on myös taustalla perhosia, suloista kangasta, rasia, helmiä, mahtava nappi...

Outi kept me company on the way to the meeting and back, and she gave me a small bag of "treaties" as a thank you for the car ride. A lovely small pillow, which has butterflies on the back as well, cute fabric, a box, beads, a gorgeous button... 

Tähän loppuun vielä kuva kukasta, joka sisältyi Miialta saamaani vaihtopakettiin.

WIPocalypse, report #2

Täysikuu tuli ja meni alkuviikosta, joten WIPocalypse-raportti on hieman myöhässä. Mutta kun oli niin paljon kuvia järjesteltävänä :-) (Vinkiksi jo tässä vaiheessa, että kaikki kuvathan voi klikata suuremmiksi)

Tammikuun 16. päivästä alkaen jatkoin vanhoja keskeneräisiä pistelyjä. Seuraavaan kollaasiin olen kerännyt ne Chatelainen työt, joita jatkoin tammikuussa: Taj Mahal, Egyptian Mandala, Celtic Garden Mandala, Japanese Octagon  Box (saksikotelo-osio) ja Elisabethan Sweete Bag. Pari muuta Chatelainea jäi vielä odottamaan aikoja parempia... ;-)

From January 16 I continued older wips. The next collage shows those Chatelaines I continued in January: Taj Mahal, Egyptian Mandala, Celtic Garden Mandala, Japanese Octagon Box (scissor fob part of the design) and Elisabethan Sweete Bag. A couple of other Chatelaine wips will have to wait for better days :-)

Viimeinen hassutusaloitus on viimevuotiseen tapaan Halloween-aiheinen. Tästä eteenpäin hassutus jatkuu modifioidussa muodossa, eli loppukuun ajan jatkan vanhoja, ennen 2012 aloitettuja keskeneräisiä töitä. Niitä kyllä riittää (listaa löytyy sivupalkista tai WIPocalypsen sivulta)...

The last of this years Challenge starts is, like last year, Halloween themed. Now my Challenge will change into a modified one, meaning that during the rest of the month I'll be stitching old wips, projects started before 2012. There's plenty of them (a list can be found on the sidebar or on WIPocalypse page)...
